Portage config files in etc need updating

If such a conflict exists in the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can not be installed simultaneously. You may want to try a larger value of the --backtrack option, such as --backtrack=30, in order to see if that will solve this conflict automatically.

If a file of the same name already exists, Portage will change the name of the to-be-installed file from 'foo' to '._cfg0000_foo'.However portage did not overwrite anything and the notification remained. This obviously had the interesting side-effect of undermining the functionality of dispatch-conf as well as etc-update although I do not know why.It is therefore very important to first select the configuration files that should not be automatically updated. This is simply a matter of entering the number listed to the left of that configuration file.
